I recently had the pleasure of doing a blog redesign for friend and foodie blogger, Vianney from Sweet Life. For Vianney’s blog, she wanted a simple, sleek look that would put her gorgeous photos and delicious recipes on center stage. This free theme from WordPress was customized to fit Sweet Life’s personal style and make a big impact with very little fuss. Simplicity was key throughout the design, which is also evident in the custom images provided by Dariela Designs for Sweet Life’s header and blog button.
In the redesign, I also had the opportunity to create a few custom graphics. Instead of the typical Facebook ‘Like’ Box, Vianney requested a custom graphic that could link to her Facebook fan page. She was also pleased with the idea I presented about showcasing her accomplishments in a special “As Featured On” graphic. This graphic then links to her media page where visitor can learn more about where she contributes. Finally, I also had some difficulty finding ready-made social icons in the style below for Pinterest or email updates. These two icons have been custom designed specifically for Sweet Life. You won’t find them elsewhere.
In addition to custom designs, Sweet Life was also given a makeover on all of it’s pages and was updated with a special recipe app plugin that allows Vianney to simply enter in her recipe information into a pre-set form and forget about post styling and formatting. This is probably one of the better features available on Sweet Life, because it also allows visitors to print and save all of their favorite recipes with one-touch ease….a recipe blogger’s dream!
In addition to a blog makeover, Sweet Life also got a refresh for it’s social media profiles. A simple Facebook profile image and Twitter background can make a big impact and help promote your professional brand.
