NEW YouTube End Screen Editor First Look!
In case you hadn’t heard yet, YouTube announced their NEW End Screen Editor on recently, which officially rolled out to all YouTube users October 2016!
I had the opportunity to try it out on my YouTube channels and I was beyond geeked to see some great new features that YouTubers have been waiting on for several years.
Mobile-Friendly YouTube End Screens
By far, the most beautiful and significant feature is the fact that the new end screen elements now display on mobile devices. Previously, YouTubers had to use annotations, which are NOT visible on mobile.
Now that YouTube has created a mobile friendly solution to replace the old annotations of the past, viewers can have a much more consistent experience across all platforms and devices.
How to Add Elements Using the End Screen Editor
YouTube’s NEW End Screen Editor is simple and clean. There are five options to add content to your end screen, most of which are a lot like the options in the previous annotations editor.
Here are the five types of content that can be featured, as described by Google:
- Video or playlist: You can select to always feature your most recently uploaded video; allow YouTube to select a video from your channel to best suit the viewer; or pick any video or playlist from your channel, public, or unlisted content.
- Subscribe: Encourage subscriptions to your channel.
- Approved websites: Link to your associated website or to approved merchandise and crowdfunding websites. Provide a custom image, title and select a call-to-action.
- Channel: Promote another channel and provide a custom message.
You’ll also notice that the active area includes a snap-to grid that makes adding your end screen elements easy and painless.
