This past week, we saw our first days of snow here in the midwest. It’s been a time of anticipation as we wait for the holidays to roll in and simultaneously say “goodbye” to our beautiful warm summer days.
I’m already excited for summer to come again so I can roll around with the kids in the grass and take long walks without the cold chill of the wind sending a shiver up my spine. It’s gone too soon.

Of course, when summer was here, I was pining for winter…go figure.
Now winter is here, and I’m officially geeked for the holidays! Warm, fuzzy pjs, hot cocoa, snuggly mornings with the kids, all of it.
And that’s not all that comes with the holidays, since December is an extra special month for me. December is a celebration month (including my birthday and several holidays).
It’s also the time when I take extended time off from work in order to focus in on my business —to restructure, redesign and create.

Last year, I had a new baby, and my beautiful little guy took up a good amount of my time. Giving that extra time to family made me focus in even further. So I chose just one thing, and redesigned my entire website from top to bottom.
This year, I plan to focus in on product development and course creation. I’ve had a lot of ideas (and even product and course drafts) for some time, but I was non-committal. Now, I plan to more fully invest my time and efforts to bringing these plans to life.
This will be my third year restructuring, and each year I see bigger and better results!
I’m interested to know, do you take time during the holidays to halt client work and focus in on your own business plan? If so, what has this process helped you to accomplish?
