Where to find free stock photos
There are many places to find free stock photos online, but not all sites offer high quality images, nor are they really 100% free.
To be clear, this post is a list of only the best in free stock photos online. They’re not just royalty-free -— they’re no strings attached, any-use, high-resolution photos, public domain images. What can I use free stock photos for?
There is literally a ton of things that you can use free stock photos for. But here’s a few ideas to get you started.

- Demo content for theme design and client websites
- Anywhere else you want, they’re free!
Free Stock Photo Websites
Unsplash — Unsplash updates their stock with 10 new images every 10 days. You’ll mostly find landscapes and artistic or abstract shots here. Their really high-res and beautiful. Most of their images have a very California or travel-centric vibe. Great for those that consider themselves an explorer at heart.
Kaboom Pics — Kaboom Pics hosts a variety of blogger-friendly stock images with new pictures being uploaded daily. There are lots of photos with a distinctly feminine feel and images are tagged for easy searching. Kaboom Pics focuses heavily on food, fashion, abstract and landscapes, although you can find much more in their archives.
Libre Stock — Libre Stock is a collection of free stock photos curated from several different free stock image sites. They have over 35,000 free stock photos and growing.
Jay Mantri — Much like Unsplash, Mantri shares a massive amount of landscapes, waterscapes and beach-town life. The site consistently updates with 28 new images every month, and is growing, but is more limited in it’s stock offerings.
SplitShire — SplitShire is another great selection of hand-picked images that you can download at no charge. Most of the images are landscapes, nature, people, things and abstracts. Made by a blogger / design, fore bloggers and designers.
Death to the Stock Photo — You’ll have to register for a paid membership in order to access their archives, but you’ll still have the option to get a free zip file full of the latest images every month for free. Their premium option, which includes new stock + access to their archives runs only $10/mo.
Pixabay — Pixabay is probably one of the largest and most diverse collections of public domain images on the web. On their site, you can find landscapes, portraits, animals, graphic backgrounds and more. You can easily download your photo selections in a variety of sizes.
Snapwire Snaps — Snapwire Snaps releases 7 new photos every 7 days. Similar to the images free on Unsplash, with most of their focus on landscapes and abstracts. Their stock is limited, but growing.
