Your website is like your home on the internet. It’s the place where people go to learn more about you, what you do and how you do it. Sometimes they stopover just to check-in and see what’s new.
But just like at home, you wouldn’t want to invite people over when your house is a mess.
But that’s exactly what we do. We load up our websites with too many options. Too many offerings. Too many directions. Too much noise.
You might be guilty of this too, and it’s not that your intentions were bad. You just want people to see everything that you offer and have access to every resource on your website. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But it does cause a problem…overwhelm.
Most websites overwhelm their audience by showing too much on their homepage, too much clutter in their sidebar and too many options on the navigation menu. And this is a large part of why their conversions are so low. People are lost. They don’t know what they want and they aren’t sure how to navigate your site or digest all of the information available to them.
We often think that more is better. Except it’s not. It’s the other way around.
Think of your website as a brief. It gets the point across and opens up the client to future communication and collaboration.
Options are great, but presenting too many all at once will become confusing.
Instead of promoting EVERY option…promote your BEST OFFERS. Promote the items that turn the BIGGEST PROFIT. Promote the items that REPRESENT the bulk of your work.
Once you bring people in, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to present them with more options. 💖
Best,
Chantilly
